Through a joint agreement with Portage Learning, a division of Geneva College, our students are able to complete their prerequisite coursework online through the PortageLearning.com platform. Upon completion of the online courses, students earn college credit through Geneva College. Geneva College is accredited by the Middles States Commission on Higher Education.
Taking Classes with Portage
All Portage courses are offered exclusively online through the PortageLearning.com platform. Portage offers rolling admissions, and all coursework is self-directed. This flexibility allows students to complete the courses at their own pace and meet the prerequisite deadlines for AIMS.
Prerequisite Requirements at AIMS Education
Students applying to or enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program are required to complete the following college-level courses:
Human Anatomy & Physiology I
Human Anatomy & Physiology II
English Composition I
College Algebra or Introduction to Statistics
General Physics or Radiographic Physics (not offered by Portage)
It is recommended that DMS applicants complete all prerequisite courses prior to submitting an application, but it is not required. Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II must be completed prior to starting BIO 107 (Cross-Sectional Anatomy and Pathophysiology). All other prerequisite courses must be completed prior to starting DMS 220 (Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation).
Portage does not currently offer a Physics course online. Please speak with an admissions team member from AIMS for other options.
