Spring 2015 Financial Aid Workshop

AIMS Education recently hosted a financial aid workshop titled "Managing Your Student Loans 101." The workshop was hosted by the Financial Aid Department and was offered in two separate sessions, for both morning and evening students. The purpose of the workshop was to inform all students about the financial aid process through the various stages of their enrollment. This presentation outlined the relevant information that students need to understand their financial aid package, how to maintain SAP standards, and the student loan repayment process. It was intended to stimulate audience participation and interaction. Some of the topics covered were as follows:

  • Loan Basics (types of aid received, loan balances)
  • Submitting FAFSA for programs lasting more than one academic year
  • Maintaining SAP and Earning FA
  • Loan History and Servicers
  • Accessing NSLDS and Student Loan Websites (viewing loan history)
  • Rights, Responsibilities, and Obligations of the Master Promissory Note (MSN)
  • Repayment Plans
  • Loan Consolidations
  • Delinquency, Default Management, and Prevention

At the conclusion of the presentation, students had a better understanding of the overall loan process, and the obligations they have taken on. There were several questions addressed during and after the workshop in reference to FAFSA, student loan interest, grace periods, previous loan history, and continued education. Future workshops will be held later in the year. Please contact the Financial Aid Department or visit the events page for information regarding upcoming workshops, incuding dates and times.
