Greenlight a Vet Campaign

AIMS Education is proud to support the Greenlight a Vet campaign launched by Walmart and supported by veterans groups around the country. From Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11th, through the end of November, AIMS will place a green light on campus to show our appreciation and support for military veterans. Students, faculty, and staff can also show their support by wearing green on Veterans Day.

What is the Greenlight a Vet Campaign?

Walmart is teaming up with veterans groups around the country to kick off a new, national campaign that encourages communities to hire and mentor veterans who have retired from military service. Kathleen McLaughlin, President of the Walmart Foundation, said the Greenlight A Vet campaign will address the tough obstacles veterans face when they retire. The Walmart Foundation is spear-heading this new initiative to show support for veterans who are returning to civilian life. The national campaign kicked off in October 2015.

Walmart has committed to hiring 250,000 veterans by 2020, and the company has already “greenlighted” their 100,000th veteran hire this past month. To show your support for this wonderful cause, replace the light in front of your home or business with a green light bulb and keep it lit throughout the month of November. To help promote the Greenlight a Vet campaign, please take a picture of your green light and post or tweet about it using the hashtag #greenlightavet.
